More General Questions
Who can I contact for sponsorship-related questions?
You will have a personal contact person (volunteer) in the Netherlands who can answer all your questions about sponsorship. This team stays in touch with both sponsors and the local team in Kenya.
Can I send clothes or packages to my sponsored child?
Due to customs restrictions and high import fees, sending packages is discouraged. Instead, you can donate to the BG gift fund, which ensures all children receive a locally sourced gift at Christmas.
💡 How to send a gift: Transfer your contribution to NL59 RABO 0160 2833 45 (Blessed Generation Nederland) with the note “gift for sponsored child.”
How long does it take for my letter to reach the child?
We recommend email over postal mail since physical letters can be delayed or lost due to customs checks in Kenya.
Can I give an extra donation to my sponsored child or their family?
You can donate extra funds for special occasions like birthdays or graduations. Transfer your contribution to NL59 RABO 0160 2833 45, mentioning the child’s name and the occasion.
How long does sponsorship last?
Blessed Generation aims to support children until they can live independently, but you can choose how long to continue sponsorship.
💡 Tax Benefit: Sponsorship is tax-deductible under Dutch ANBI regulations, and if you commit to five years or more, your contributions are fully deductible.
Are automatic payments required?
While not mandatory, automatic payments help reduce administrative work and ensure consistent support for the children.
Do I have to write letters or emails?
While not required, sponsors can correspond with their sponsored child through Blessed Generation’s communication channels.
Can I email my sponsored child?
Emails are sent through a Blessed Generation representative in Kenya. Children respond during designated correspondence rounds, so replies may take some time.
What happens if I stop sponsoring a child?
If you need to stop your sponsorship, the child remains in the program while we search for a new sponsor to continue their support.
Am I the only sponsor for my sponsored child?
Each child generally has one sponsor, but groups can also co-sponsor a child together.
What impact does my sponsorship have?
Your sponsorship provides education, healthcare, and emotional support, changing a child’s future. Through your sponsorship, a child receives:
- Education – Tuition, supplies, and school support
- Healthcare – Medical checkups and emergency care
- Nutrition – Daily meals for healthy growth
- Emotional & Social Support – Safe shelter and community care

Without sponsorship, many of these children would not receive such vital assistance.
