About Blessed Generation Kenya

Learn about Blessed Generation Kenya, a charitable organization dedicated to providing education, shelter, and care to vulnerable children.

Who We Are

Blessed Generation is a Kenya-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered as a Charitable Children’s Institution. Our mission is to give children in need a chance at a better future through education, shelter, and care.

With the help of over 100 dedicated Kenyan staff members, our founders, Ria Fennema and her husband Fester Medendorp, have committed their lives to supporting more than 1,000 vulnerable children. Our efforts are carried out in close partnership with Kenya’s child protection services.

Education as the Key to the Future

Education plays a crucial role in our support programs. It is the key to a brighter future. Blessed Generation provides children with primary and secondary education and, where possible, supports them in pursuing vocational training or university education.

Unlike many support programs that stop after primary school, we continue to guide our children through their educational journey. This ensures they receive emotional and social support from our qualified social workers, reducing risks such as crime involvement, radicalization, and teenage pregnancies.

What We Provide

Blessed Generation offers a wide range of support services, including:

We help more than 1400 children yearly

Evey year Blessed Generation helps more than 1400 children across all of our 3 major locations. Many Children benefit and have a better chance at life when they leave the program and are stable to leave. That is when they have attained higher education programs from Universities and Colleges. Would you like to Sponsor a child through our programs?

Family-Based Support Model

Blessed Generation prioritizes keeping children with their families whenever possible. We provide:

When home placement is not an option, children are placed in our care facilities in collaboration with Kenya’s child protection agencies and courts.

Success Stories

Since our founding, many of our children have graduated and established successful careers as Nurses, Teachers, Administrators, Doctors, Shoemakers, and Entrepreneurs. Many return to support Blessed Generation as volunteers or sponsors, and one of our first graduates—now a banker—has even joined our board.

Additionally, we employ over 100 staff members and support the local economy by sourcing materials, school uniforms, food, and transport services from nearby communities.

“The children are my greatest source of inspiration. Seeing them grow and succeed reminds me why we started this journey.”
